Pokémon Go: How to Defeat and Catch Genesect

“Unova Week” is live in Pokémon Go for all trainers globally. Unova Week introduced some new Pokémon and rare Pokémon, including “Cottonee” and “Emolga.” This week is extraordinary for most of the trainers because they are getting “Genesect” in a 5-star raid as well. Genesect is a powerful dual Bug/Steel-type Pokémon. Trainers who are well aware of PVP battles, they are strictly focusing on catching Genesect because it is going to provide massive help in PVP battles and raids.

According to the stats of Genesect, it’s quite significant in terms of both attack and defense. To win from Genesect, players have to form a big team because a couple of trainers can’t defeat it. In the previous week of Pokémon Go, “Deoxys” appeared in a 5star raid. As compared to Genesect, beating Deoxys was a bit easier and less challenging.

Now Genesect is a dual Bug/Steel-type Pokémon that has its weakness and strength. In the raid battles, players have to focus on their weaknesses. It is necessary to use those Pokémon that can hit massive damage. Genesect is weak against the Fire-type Pokémon and Fire-type moves.

These are the best Fire-type Pokémon and moves to win against Genesect:

  • Chandelure – Fire Spin and Overheat

  • Moltres – Fire Spin and Overheat

  • Heatran – Fire Spin and Flamethrower

  • Reshiram – Fire Fang and Overheat

  • Darmanitan – Fire Fang and Overheat

  • Blaziken – Fire Spin and Blast Burn

In normal weather, the catching CP of Genesect is 1833 to 1916. However, if trainers defeat Genesect in boosted weather like snowy or rainy, its catching CP will be within 2292 to 2395. There’s a chance to get the shiny form of Genesect as well. The shiny form of Genesect is quite rare in the game, so only a few lucky players will get it. The original form of Genesect is in light purple, but its shiny form is in red color that looks stunning. The shiny form is only limited until the event is over, so players should raid multiple times to get the special form of Genesect.

Once the player captures the Genesect, they can replace its fast and charge moves. Its fast moves are “Fury Cutter” and “Metal Claw,” and charge moves are “Magnet Bomb,” “X Scissor,” and “Hyper Beam.”

If you form a big team, you can easily wipe out Genesect before the time runs out. One trainer can invite a total of 5 players in the raid battle. So, a total of 6 players can easily defeat Genesect before the time runs out. However, if your Pokémon faint before the time runs out, you can choose more Pokémon for the same raid battle. You don’t have to organize or form another team to win the ongoing Genesect battle.

To win the raid battle, players need to have fire-type Pokémon and fire-types moves. Genesect is much weaker against the Fire-type moves, rather than Fire-type Pokémon. Genesect uses several types of moves in the battle, and some of them can easily knock out your Pokémon. So in the battle, you should dodge the charge attacks of Genesect to avoid extreme damage.

Conclusion – Genesect is a strong Pokémon for raid battles and PVP battles. However, Genesect is only available until Unova Week. After the end of Unova Week, players might see new Pokémon in 5-star raids.
