Apple has announced iOS 14 and its strict privacy features for location control that photos app access. The beta version of iOS 14 is still available, and by using the beta software, you can access the new privacy features. This iOS 14 is a major step towards privacy, and if you are an iPhone user, you should know it.
You don’t have to Give Exact Location to the Apps
iOS 14 will restrict the apps to get your location. When you grant the permission to get your location, you allow them to know your exact location. However, there are some apps that only require a general location rather than the exact location.
In your iPhone just launch the Settings application and move to Privacy>Location Services to see the list of apps that have gained access to the location of yours. Once you click on any specific application, you will see the toggle of “Precise Location.” By turning that off, you can deny to provide the exact location and give them the approximate location.
You Can Choose to Allow Access
Well, if you don’t know about this privacy feature, you will love it when you know about this. In the iOS 14 security features, it is one of the best features. In this security feature, you don’t have to let the app access every photo of your gallery. You can select some specific photos that the app can access. However, if you want to grant full access to photos to the app, it’s possible as well.
When you open the app to access the photo library, you will see the permission access option of “Select Photos” or “Allow Access to All Photos.” Both of these permission options are different, and it will only happen after you upgrade to the iOS 14.
When you choose the Select Photos option, you will be required to choose the photos from the library. So the next time when you use the app for accessing the photos, you will be asked to add more photos for accessing. Anytime you can move to Settings>Privacy>Photos and manage the settings for the individual apps.
Know When the Microphone or Camera is in Use
Most of us have heard speculation that apps like Instagram or Facebook usually access the microphones to hear the conversation of the user and show ads accordingly. However, iOS 14 will now let you know when the camera and microphone are getting accessed. From a new indicator on the signal meter, you will be informed if something like this is happening. The orange dot indicator will inform you about the microphone, and the green will indicate about the camera.
Privacy is a major thing in this digital world, and Apple has added a lot more things to ensure it.
