How to Hold a Video Meeting With the Latest Version of Microsoft Teams?

Now, you can host the video conference in the Latest Free Version

Hey! Are you looking for any free application that can help you to meet your friends, family and co-worker online? Then Microsoft has made it possible to hold the meetings on their free versions.  

“Team” is the new name of the application which is now considered as the best alternative to Slack. According to the official reports, you can use it for instant messaging, hosting web-meetings and doing other online stuff. Microsoft has designed it, especially for the office purpose, but you can also sign up for a free account to chat with your loved ones. There is an issue, during signup, if you have opted for the option that asks you “You want to use the Team for Connecting with your family and friends, then you will be directed to the skype. So, for using the Team, you may need to opt-in for using it for the work. 





Formerly, free accounts don’t let you initiate the meeting, but you can join the meeting. But from now, anyone can begin the Team meeting. Currently, the Team doesn’t put any bar on the number of participants and length of the session. The official sources have confirmed that they have done this due to the current pandemic. 

To begin with the team meeting, you have to create your Microsoft account or already have one, then log in to your account. Don’t sign up with the Outlook address; try to use your Gmail Id. For a better experience, you can download the application for the MacOS or Windows device. 

The process of starting the meeting via application is similar in the application to the desktop version. After signing in, you are ready to begin connecting with your family and friends.

Follow the steps to host the meeting:

  • On the left-hand side of the screen, you will find the “Meetings” option.

  • There are two options for you one is a schedule or begin the meeting. Now, choose the “Meet Now” option and Microsoft will give you to name your session and enable the Audio and Video. When you get ready, then click on the Join Now.

  • In the bottom of the screen, you will find some buttons. From left to right, several options will allow you to enable or disable the camera, mic, or you can share your screen. These buttons also give access to raise your hand, view active participants, hang up or see the chat. But with this application, you will not get the recording feature. For accessing other features like entering full screen, live captions, disabled video for the coming participants by clicking on the three dots that you will see in the middle of the row. 

  • With the beginning of the meeting, you will get the pop-up window with some options like joining/adding the call or sending an e-mail invite. By any case, you aren’t able to get that pop-up window; then you can also add it later. For adding the participants, click on the “Show participants” option from the row buttons. There you will find the “Share Invitation” button to send the invitation. 

  • For the new participants who are joining your current meeting via your link, they will wait in the virtual lobby, and you might have to wait for someone to enter you in the meeting room. If you are the host of the meeting, then you can see the name, which appears in the list of the sidebar of the “People.” Choose the participants that you want to join them in the meeting. If you aren’t able to see the participants options, then you will see a small pop-up window just above the “Show participants” at the bottom of the Team’s screen. Now click on the “Admit” option to add them to your meeting. If you don’t want to add them, you can decline their request too.

Schedule a meeting for later

If you have chosen to schedule the conference for the later, then you can do it by following ways:

  • Select the “Meeting” option that you will see on the sidebar of the left-hand side. 

  • There you will find the “Schedule a Meeting” option.

  • After that, a window will pop-up that will let you set the date and time for the meeting. You can also title the conference for convenience.

  • When you’re done with all these kinds of stuff, click the “Schedule” option. 

Now, copy the link from the box that you will see in the next box. Now you can share it with your family or loved ones so that they can also join the meeting on time. You can also share the invitation through the Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook. 

Since you have created a unique link, your friends or family members can join the meeting anytime. By following these steps, other participants can also schedule the meeting.
