The plot of the screenplay is based on Salem, Massachusetts in 1693 and revolves around Thackery’s little sister, Emily, spirited away to a cottage of three witches. The Sanderson sisters, Sarah, Winifred, and Mary cast a spell on Emily to absorb her youth to regain their own by killing her in the process. Thackery confronts the witches, and in return, they transform him into an immortal black cat. The spellbook of Winifred casts a curse during the full moon on All Hallows’ Eve when a virgin lights the Black Flame Candle.
