Wondering if your AirPods or AirPods Pro are waterproof? It happens to us all most of the time. Sometimes, you spill water on your AirPods or the worst case, going for a run when it suddenly starts raining.
It is actually a topic to think about because of the money you spend on buying such tiny hearing devices. No wonder, it’ll upset you investing all over again. Here’s everything you need to know, avoid distractions, and read further.
First wireless earphones were released by Apple in the form of the AirPods. It is important to note that waterproof and water-resistant are two different terms. Waterproof, as the name suggests, is the term used for devices that do not allow water to get inside. On the other hand, water-resistant can hold water from getting into the device for a certain amount of time.
Unfortunately, AirPods are not meant to be found near water as they are not waterproof or resistant. It is advised to keep away your AirPods while working out, or somewhere the water is likely to spill onto them.
Talking about AirPods Pro, they’re not waterproof, but they are officially rated to be water-resistant. AirPods Pro does have a water-resistant coating that saves them from immediate water exposure. It means that if you’re wearing your AirPods Pro while working out, you don’t have to worry much about the sweat that can damage your device.
Now when you know about the water-resisting capacity of the AirPods Pro, it doesn’t mean you’ll wear them while swimming. Remember, water-resistant is not the same as waterproof.
The question that now arises is what if your AirPods or AirPods Pro accidentally get wet? What if you drop them in a bucket full of water? It’ll be very helpful if you stop panicking and dry your device before packing them back into the case.
Dry out your device with a soft cloth and then leave them preferably under the fan for a few hours. You must have heard about putting your wet smartphones in a bag of rice. Hold on, do not already find a box of rice to put your AirPods in the same. It is not at all advised, rather leave them in an open environment.
Once your AirPods or AirPods Pro completely dries, you can connect them to your device and try using it. This hopefully will fix your expensive AirPods, and you don’t have to worry about investing in a new one.
